Profile
Linda McMahon currently serves as the U.S. Secretary of Education, having been appointed by President Donald Trump as part of his second-term administration. A seasoned executive and public servant, McMahon brings a blend of leadership experience from the private sector and prior federal service to her role overseeing national education policy.
Before assuming her current post, McMahon served as Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) from 2017 to 2019 during Trump’s first term, where she was widely recognized for her advocacy on behalf of small businesses and entrepreneurs. She also served as co-chair of President Trump’s 2024 transition team, helping to shape key policy and personnel decisions for the administration.
Prior to her public service, McMahon was best known as a co-founder and top executive at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where she helped grow the company into a global entertainment powerhouse. Her background in business and organizational leadership has shaped her approach to government reform and administrative efficiency.
As Secretary of Education, McMahon has championed school choice, parental empowerment, and the decentralization of federal education policy. She is leading the administration’s efforts to shift authority away from Washington, D.C., and return control of education to state and local governments. “Linda will fight tirelessly to expand choice to every state in America and empower parents to make the best education decisions for their families,” Trump said upon her appointment. “We will send education back to the states, and Linda will spearhead that effort.”
McMahon’s appointment aligns with Trump’s broader campaign pledge to reduce the size and scope of the federal Department of Education, which he has criticized as bloated and ineffective.
A longtime ally and personal friend of President Trump, McMahon and her husband, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, have been among his most prominent supporters for over two decades, both politically and philanthropically.
In her current role, Secretary McMahon is focused on implementing bold structural reforms, increasing educational options for families, and reducing federal interference in local schools—while reinforcing the principle that parents, not bureaucrats, should drive decisions about their children’s education.
