Jamieson Greer, U.S. White House Cabinet, Department of Trade Representative

Jamieson Lee Greer serves as the 20th United States Trade Representative, a Cabinet-level position confirmed by the Senate in February 2025. As a senior member of President Trump’s administration, Greer leads U.S. trade strategy with an America‑First approach—focusing on combating unfair trade practices, expanding market access for “Made in America” goods, and ensuring reciprocal trade relationships globally.

Returning to USTR after previously serving as Chief of Staff to Ambassador Robert Lighthizer during Trump’s first administration, Greer played a central role in major initiatives including tariff implementation on China, negotiation of the U.S.–China Phase One Agreement, and securing congressional approval for the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA).

In April 2025, Greer assumed additional responsibilities as Acting Director of the Office of Government Ethics and Acting Special Counsel, expanding his influence across ethics and oversight functions within the federal government.

A former Air Force JAG Corps officer with deployment experience in Iraq, Greer brings legal rigor and disciplined leadership to his portfolio. He also worked in private practice at major law firms, including King & Spalding and Skadden, where he specialized in international trade and national security matters.

His education reflects international focus: a B.A. in International Studies from Brigham Young University, dual master’s degrees in global business law from Sciences Po and Panthéon‑Sorbonne, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

• Facing congressional scrutiny during a high-profile hearing in April 2025 regarding the sudden presidential pause in certain tariffs—highlighting challenges in executive coordination and policy execution.

Greer is widely recognized as a strategic policymaker with deep expertise across trade law, negotiations, and government advocacy. His tenure continues a legacy of assertive U.S. trade leadership rooted in accountability, reciprocity, and economic nationalism.
