Elissa Slotkin
United States Senator, Michigan
Elissa Slotkin has spent her career serving and protecting the nation—first as a CIA analyst, then as a senior national security official, and now as a United States Senator representing Michigan.
Slotkin began her public service at the Central Intelligence Agency, where she completed three tours in Iraq alongside the U.S. military. She later held key national security positions at the Pentagon and the White House under both Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. During the Obama Administration, she regularly briefed the President on high-stakes global threats and was eventually nominated and confirmed as Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs.
In 2018, driven by a deep commitment to service and concern for the country’s direction, Slotkin ran for Congress—flipping a long-held Republican district in Michigan and helping Democrats reclaim the House majority. She was re-elected in 2020 and 2022, earning a reputation as a pragmatic, results-focused legislator who worked across the aisle to deliver real progress for her constituents. Her legislative priorities included expanding access to affordable health care, lowering prescription drug costs, investing in American manufacturing, and strengthening domestic supply chains.
In 2024, Slotkin was elected to the United States Senate, succeeding retiring Senator Debbie Stabenow. As a senator, she continues to focus on rebuilding Michigan’s middle class, creating dignified, good-paying jobs, and ensuring the safety and security of Michigan’s communities. Drawing on her national security background and bipartisan approach, Slotkin brings deep experience, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to practical solutions to the Senate.
