Eric Scott Turner is an American businessman, motivational speaker, former state legislator, and retired professional football player. He is widely recognized for his dynamic leadership and commitment to empowering underserved communities across the country.
Turner served as the Executive Director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council from 2019 to 2021, where he led a nationwide effort to promote economic development in distressed communities through the Opportunity Zones program. Under his leadership, the Council worked to align federal resources, private investment, and local leadership to revitalize economically struggling areas and expand pathways to prosperity.
Before his time in the executive branch, Turner served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2013 to 2017, where he earned a reputation for bipartisan cooperation, integrity, and advocacy on behalf of education, criminal justice reform, and economic opportunity.
Prior to his political career, Turner played nine seasons in the NFL, including stints with the Washington Redskins, San Diego Chargers, and Denver Broncos.
