Timothy “Tim” Patrick Sheehy is the junior United States Senator from Montana, having taken office on January 3, 2025. A decorated Navy SEAL combat veteran, successful entrepreneur, and public servant, Sheehy brings national security expertise and business leadership to his work in the Senate.
Military Service and Early Career
A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Sheehy served as a Navy SEAL Officer with deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, South America, and the Pacific. His distinguished service earned him a Bronze Star with Valor and a Purple Heart. He also graduated from Army Ranger School and later served with joint Army special operations before concluding his active-duty service.
Entrepreneurship and Business Leadership
After leaving the military, Sheehy founded Bridger Aerospace in Belgrade, Montana, in 2014. What began as a one-man aviation venture grew into one of the country’s leading aerial firefighting companies. Under his leadership, Bridger Aerospace became a major employer in Montana and went public in 2023. He also co-founded the Little Belt Cattle Company, a working ranch focused on sustainable agriculture and strengthening local food supply chains.
U.S. Senate
Sheehy was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2024, defeating a three-term incumbent and flipping Montana’s Senate seat. In Congress, he serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, and the Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

Public Service and Philanthropy
Senator Sheehy and his wife, Carmen—a former U.S. Marine Corps officer—live near Bozeman, Montana, with their four children. Through their business ventures and philanthropy, the Sheehys have contributed millions of dollars to causes including pediatric and neonatal health care, veterans’ services, and education. They were instrumental in establishing Montana’s first Level I trauma center.
